What We Do

The Midwest Preservation Group, LLC specializes in historic documentation and works closely with or is a member of various historical organizations like Marceline Historical Society, State Historical Society of Missouri, and National Trust for Historic Preservation.

We partner with property owners to preserve, conserve and save history using the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties as a guide.

To do this, we write grants, perform historical integrity assessments, and advocate for properties deemed individually eligible in an Eligibility Assessment for the National Register of Historic Places.

We believe that our country’s strength is in preserving its past for future generations.

Our Current Projects

  • We are working with the Walt Disney Hometown Theater Foundation (501c3) to revitalize the historic Uptown Theatre in Marceline, MO.  Additionally, we’ve taken the lead on researching and writing grants for the theater’s rehabilitation.
    • UPDATE: In Jul 2023, the Uptown has been officially placed on the National Register.
  • We have partnered with Main Street Tour Company to design historic walking and virtual tours of Marceline, Mo., Hannibal, Mo., Pittsfield, Ill and Alexandria, IN, focusing on the unique architecture, people, and general history of the city.
  • We are collaborating with Marceline’s Masonic Temple #481, Marceline Lincoln School, and the First Christian Church of Marceline to complete their NRHP nomination applications.
  • We have partnered with the Marceline Historical Society to bring more awareness of the city’s history to the public.
  • We are in negotiations with two cities. One city has asked us to perform an assessment of their historical resources; the other has requested us to do their historic district nomination.
